2019 was an exciting year for Butcher Bird and our burgeoning relationship with Twitch, the largest streaming platform in the world. While we always have a blast and try out new innovations on every project that we do with the brilliant Twitch team, we’re proud to announce that we were recognized by the Telly Awards team for two particular projects:
In the Branded category, our team received a Bronze for the Star Wars Triple Force Friday/Frozen Fan Fest live stream event. Integrating click-to-purchase links with a live presentation of stellar new Star Wars and Frozen merchandise being released for the holiday season, our hilarious hosts kept the show running and the audience engaged. Using Twitch’s built-in extensions, and lessons learned from our experience on Twitch Sells Out, the event was a four-hour sales extravaganza, featuring exciting new products and toys from two of the hottest (or, in the case of Frozen, “coolest”) properties in the world.
With two beautiful, on-brand sets created by our amazing art department, the event was a fun, free-wheeling, and often hilarious success.
But we are particularly proud of our work on Twitch’s music competition series, Stream Star, for which we were awarded a Gold in the Telly’s webseries/music category! One of the most enjoyable and rewarding shows we’ve been a part of, Stream Star brought together amazing talent from around the world each week. Competitors would talk about their musical experiences and careers before the viewers in the chat feed rated their performances in the Twitch Sings Karaoke program in order to decide which competitor would continue on to the grand finale presented in September at Twitch-Con in San Diego. Using the best digital call-in technology, we could chat with all the talented participants, even when everyone was oceans apart.
Over six weeks our team got to work with both marvelous performers and engaging hosts, and we were as passionate about and invested in the success of the competitors as the audience was. It was a thrill to be a part of this show, and it is an even bigger honor to have our efforts acknowledged by our industry peers.
Butcher Bird was previously awarded a Telly in 2017 for our Untethered: My Passion series of branded videos for portable power company, TYLT.
